hey peeps!

bought the cloth for banner, but it isn't grey lah, its light purple.
they don't sell grey.
and it was all damn last minute.
i need apologise first! SORRY!
i will post the design later on for those who did not come for trng today. (:

anyway, what happened was melanie and ry went to kovan there to buy.
but the shop was closed. they asked around and the shopkeepers around there said that the shop was not opened for quite a few days already. so we decided to go elsewhere buy.

and the cloth was kinda expensive lah.

and i need to say something here first.
if we spend over the budget which is $35 and which is highly possible, we've got to chip in.
ya, so don't complain when we go around collecting money again. (:

ello everyone.. its been a while since i last saw anyone of you girls..
Well, I think all of you understand what i mean by "time slips by"..2 months have past just like that..

[For me, everything is okay, had a slight change of job, but still working hard as hard, if not, harder..you girls, try to can catch a breather during the holidays yah]

I felt an urge to write down some replies to some of those entries from that "Black Notebook" that you girls have pen down for me.. really gotto say, some entries really made me felt very touched.

hehe..I beginning to doubt if anyone of you can remember what you wrote to me dere?.. hahah.. nvm.. take it as a message from me in anycase.. Oh well, kinda took quite long to 'reply' huh.. hehe, its abit of (lazy lah.. i admit).. timing ba.. If i pen down 2 months back , probably you girls read and then forget..

Guess you will prob tell me your handwriting will change with your mood. One says handwriting reflects a person's character -- maybe thats why your character will swing with different days. (hahaha.. )
Anyway, I been wanting to tell you (but never seem to have chance) that I like you (not that kinda like lah..) since the day I spotted you. I believe you will become a shining star one day. Believe me, you can, if you can control a little of your temper, and learn to be more patient... :)

Thou it has only been 3 years, but you have truly grown up alot. From a little girl, who cannot really carry the rifle for too long, someone who is abit scare of me (?is it true?), someone who is reserved at a corner mostly...(yah, all become 'opposite' now.. keke)

Yea, indeed -size- does not matter. You are a true living example that a determined -soul- can be so much bigger and achieve more.
Thanks for all the help, care and feedback.. i personally cant bear to leave too.. but some hard decisions have to be traded for some other benefits. I believe a change is good.. as I mentioned before, "there is only progress when you step out of your comfort zone"

wah..think your entry is the most touching among all..非常感动 to know I stand a big part during your trainings (thou its only once out of 3 to 4 sessions per week?) and to know my presence is felt during competitions :>
of course, I know a coach presence is felt during competitions (我曾经也是过来人。。) So I also a bit 内疚 when I sometimes never go with you girls to those smaller competitions because of other work commitments.

You all must train harder ok.. to have a coach with you girls during weekdays training is a big bonus this time, so must 练出多一点成绩！somemore, you will be having a dedicated pistol coach – so, no more excuse!

Do feel free to msg me if you still need 一点鼓励.. I never 偏心 one ok! :D
And, remember to 用功读书K. You know we don’t usually have a second chance, so learn to treasure every moment!

we need a banner design and a cca shirt design too if you guys want a cca shirt for next year.

Banner Guidelines 2008

Banner size: not more than 10 metre square.
(e.g 3m X 3m, 2m X 4.5m, 2.5m X 4m)

Budget:
$35 (maximum)
All cost incurred must be submitted by the 31 Dec 2007.

Due date: (a) Old banner to be removed by 16 Nov 2007.
(Points will be deducted if banners are not removed by the due date)

(b) New banner to be put up by 21 Dec 2007.

Over budget/ late work/ oversized banner:
3 points will be deducted

Criteria and mark allocation:

Creativity 10
Design 10
Precision of measurements 5
Clarity of banner 5
Early birds Bonus 2 points
Total 30

Please note:

*All banners are to be made at the basement only.

Notice of Farewell..

ello all my dearest students (ex. or current, all included)..

i figured out maybe its better to put down in words..(well..than talking..since some of you girls just got a little communication gap :p yup.. and of course, for the benefit of everyone (old students esp).. posting this notice of farewell should be an an appropriate item to do..

"yes. it has been confirmed that I will be leaving this club after4 years... its certainly with much regret and many 不舍得 to announce my departure.. but 天下没有不散的筵席..students come and go.. coach does too.

Believe me if I say "I cant bear to leave you girls too..", maybe some of you may not understand why.. but I have seriously put in my time and effort to plan and attend every single training. so and so, it has become a routine.. part of my life.. something that I may feel weird.. but this something will be changed..

gotto agree that changes are hard.. like habits die hard.. (yup, for those girls who wants to do better.. treat trainings like a routine.. love them.. cultivate your -habits- to get 10s :) ... but ah, we will only improve when there is changes.. (something like stepping out of your comfort zone lah...)

after these 4 years, many memories will stay with me.. the time spend with each student(s).. from getting to know you, to seeing how each one of you grow up, becoming more sensible and understanding, to achieving so much more than what I have set out for you..

if someone were to ask me what is the best thing I have gained after all the efforts spend.. i guess.. it should be the -TRUST- that you have placed in me.. :)
of course, not forgetting the friendship that we have made along the way..a very big thank you to my capt, ex-capt, ex-ex-capt who have been really nice to give reminders to your this forgetful coach :p

i guess i am really lucky to be given a chance to prove my coaching style does work..to have you bunch of girls to attend trainings faithfully on Saturdays. these memories will stay in my heart.. won't ask you girls to rem me (not so ego lah).. but REMEMBER that we are girls of -integrity- , as shooters, we must maintain our -determination- and -preseverance-. Never give up! Keep our SJC-ian team spirit STRONG .. (pass this message on for years to come..)

BELIEF in yourself that you can achieve so much more.. and do appreciate the people around you (your teamates who have cheered/accompany/help you along the way..mr lim/tan who have worked on sat/sun/holidays to give you enough time for trainings..) we are a TEAM (Together We Achieve More!)

The above event will be held from 27th June to 6th July 2007. We are involved in only two days.

NUS Invitational Shoot 2007

The above event is schedule from Thursday 7th June 2007 – Saturday, 9th June 2007. Decision for the shooters will be out after the HTNS Interschool Shoot 2007.

Just a note to all that I have booked 6-lanes at HTNS range this sat from 1000h-1200h.
This is not an OFFICIAL training session. Attendance is NOT taken.
But will appreciate everyone to pop by (seniors, juniors, ex-seniors etc).. as a gathering or something maybe.. haha..
No personalised weapon; no jackets for this session.
If you have your own gloves with you, do bring along.

Impt itinery for the day:

SJC cheer competition(let's discuss this saturday and mondae!)

we are required to ceate an original SJC cheer (lyrics/melody/style) for this competition.

Please follow the guidelines as shown:

must contain up to 8 lines
"SJC" must be included
no valgarities
singlish avoided
actions can be included

please submit the cheer on A4 paper, preferably typewritten, with names of participants and cca, contact no. and email of the leader in charge of the group.

Its been -quiet- here. H a l l o ..!! Guess you girls are too busy yah..

Lately, I find myself blogging more often here..(relative lah) Hmm.. Been trying to understand you girls more.. But, well, I guess the "G"-Gap is still there lah..

Ok, anyway, to sum up everything in a nutcase for this one year:

We have made tremendous improvement! Cheers everyone!!

I must say, keep up the good effort! and spirit.. I thank you girls (all seniors especially) for making an effort to make training on Sat possible. (It was almost impossible back then when 'Sat' is marked as No-School-day.) Back then, I almost give up coaching, coz I weren't sure whether it is right to have you girls train without a coach for 75% training days...

But, I am proud to say today: you girls are a fine lot! :)

Everyone plays a part in a team; without it, its hard to come this far.

No one is perfect and we all have our ups and downs. Thus, be the teammates to share each other ups and downs. Its GREAT to see our team spirit has grown this far..

(Remember, time past will never be back, treasure the time spent with one another, coz once the training days are gone, they will not be back)

With the end of another Nationals, mark an end of my term as a coach. Its another contract to be signed.. another round of hassle.. to think through whether you should be changing coach etc

Anyway, before that, treating you ladies as young adults again, I hope to make you review about your commitment in this sport.. your beliefs, and your goals.

A note to say, I'm sorry that I can't let you girls enjoy more games during my session with you..If only 25% of your training time is spent with me, and I still use 25% of mytime to play games.. its time to reflect whats the quality of our training sessions...

I tried to -cut short- training hours by introducing gym hour. Its up to the team whether to stay back for other activities after gym.. basketball is good.. do it in the afternoon after gym rather than at noon-time...I hope you girls understand what i mean yah..

2006 Nationals Schools Preliminary Round is finally over! There were ups and downs.. some did well, some din do as well and some can certainly do better.. but in general, we certainly has improve! :) *see previous entry for score (Oh yes, Jh stand a good chance to get into finals...Cheers! )

jessica (thanks girl) came and supported us at yishun.. kinda reminded me of some past memories.. So, I have been with some of you girls for the 2 years ler?.. hmm..But why my current captain haven learn to endure my 'nagging'??

Hmm... just wanna say here, the -reminders- before a shoot and -reviews- after a shoot are NOT mandatory and hopefully not taken for granted. I hope my intention to help you girls to improve would not be taken as 'nagging' session..

Ok, maybe we can be democratic. From next shoot onwards, pls lemme know if you are not interested to attend my prep talk before and review after a shoot. You may choose to opt out if you feel that you are competent enough.

Hi all..
Firstly, I think there's no need for Shihua to apologise. She's just doing her part when she cannot find Mr Lim on a Friday morning...Will you do the same if you were her?

Leaving that issue aside.. Let's tok about training these days yah..I understand that balancing up training + projects these days are getting a little tough for some. Just hang in there! You can do it der!.. Its not whether can you do it.. but whether Do you want to do it?

Like I said last sat, (balance) Life = work + play. Balancing up activities and making full use of the time will make life more fulfiling isnt it?

A discipline shooter will train conscentiously; enjoy her shoot. One shot is always taken as it is; just like in life you concentrate on one thing at a time. Its the same when you are playing, you will not think of training; so is it fair to think about play when training?

I am sorry for only able to guide you girls along each week. Time is limited and it gotto be divided among so many pple. I really hope you girls can be a little more motivated and remember the basics each time we train. We shouldnt limit our potential.

Potential = what is hidden in you, yet to be unleashed.
Thus, I still believe any one of you can do it der! Just believe you can first! ;)

Fundamentals of air rifle shooting

1. Stance

A.Feet

As a result of a very small floor area covered, rifle shooting requires a properly balanced body and weapon positioning. It is important to find the right body position such that the rifle would point naturally to the target. Therefore, the feet should ba parallel to each other and perpendicular to the receiver string . the distance between them approximately corresponds to which of the shoulders.

B.Trunk Position

The shooter leans her body backwards to the right, assuming a right handed shooter, in order to balance the weight of the weapon. As the body is leaned back slightly, the hip is thrust forward a little serving as a support for the elbow. The amount by which the hip is moved forward and the body moved backward would depend on the build of the shooter. An athletic person with wide shoulders and narrow hips would move further back than a person with very slim shoulders and equally slim hips whose diff. bone structure makes an upright posture in this position much easier.
the left elbow is placed on the hip bone. this means that the weight of the gun is supported by the bone structure of the left leg and does not need to be supported with muscular effort. the total weight of the weapon is supported by the left leg. in the stance, at leasat 60% of the body weight is on the left while the remaining 40% is on the right side.

C. Arms, shoulders and hands

The right shoulder is not raised consciously and it should not be replaced as not to produce a reaction when the shot is fired. the right hand holds the gunstock securely from one shot to the next. the grip should be firm but not too tense.
the success of the entire position depends pricipally upon the position of the left arm. only twhen the weapon's weight is directly supported by the bone structure without any muscles or tendons being flexed , will the required stability be attained in this position. the muscles of the arm must not be used to hold or support the weapon. there is no point in trying to lift or carry the rifle because this would just cause your shots to be either too low or too high. lifting also tires the arm more easily.
the are diff. styles of holding the rifle. one of the easiest is the first position where the gun would rest at the back of the fingers. the nails should not be digging into the palm for this would cause tension in the left arm. the gun can also be rested on the section of the palm just below the index and middle finger while the gun is placed under the trigger guard to balance it. the index and middle finger will support the rifle from the side.

D.Head

the head should be as comfortable as possible. it is advisable that a downward motion be applied when positioning the head on the cheek piece. too much pressure to the right would cause the rifle to jerk leftward whent he shot is released.

Hmm..ok..noted on Melanie's point. I realised too last year the emphasised was placed greatly in training after training. Will look into incorporating a little fun this year hopefully. At the 1994 annual awards dinner given for Forensic Science, AAFS president Dr. Don Harper Mills astounded his audience with the legal complications of a bizarre death. Here is the story:

On March 23, 1994, the medical examiner viewed the body of Ronald Opus and concluded that he died from a shotgun wound to the head. The decedent had jumped from the top of a ten-story building intending to commit suicide.

He left a note to that effect indicating his despondency. As he fell past the ninth floor, his life was interrupted by a shotgun blast passing through a window, which killed him instantly. Neither the shooter nor the decedent was aware that a safety net had been installed just below at the eighth floor level to protect some building workers and that Ronald Opus would not have been able to complete his suicide the way he had planned.

Ordinarily, Dr. Mills continued, "a person who sets out to commit suicide and ultimately succeeds, even though the mechanism might not be what he intended" is still defined as committing suicide. Mr. Opus was shot on the way to certain death nine stories below at street level, but his suicide attempt probably would not have been successful because of the safety net. This caused the medical examiner to feel that he had a homicide on his hands.

The room on the ninth floor from whence the shotgun blast emanated was occupied by an elderly man and his wife. They were arguing vigorously, and he was threatening her with a shotgun. The man was so upset that when he pulled the trigger he completely missed his wife and the pellets went through the window striking Mr. Opus.

When one intends to kill subject A, but kills subject B in the attempt, one is guilty of the murder of subject B. When confronted with the murder charge, the old man and his wife were both adamant. They both said they thought the shotgun was unloaded. The old man said it was his long standing habit to threaten his wife with the unloaded shotgun. He had no intention to murder her. Therefore the killing of Mr. Opus appeared to be an accident, that is, the gun had been accidentally loaded.

The continuing investigation turned up a witness who saw the old couple's son loading the shotgun about six weeks prior to the fatal accident. It transpired that the old lady had cut off her son's financial support and the son, knowing the propensity of his father to use the shotgun threateningly, loaded the gun with the expectation that his father would shoot his mother.

The case now becomes one of murder on the part of the son for the death of Ronald Opus.

Now comes the exquisite twist. Further investigation revealed that the son was in fact Ronald Opus. He had become increasingly despondent over both the loss of his financial support and the failure of his attempt to engineer his mother's murder. This led him to jump off the ten-story building on March 23rd, only to be killed by a shotgun blast passing through the ninth-story window. The son had actually murdered himself, so the medical examiner closed the case as a suicide.

guess this should be my first entry here.. hope this message gets across..
Anyway, to start off..today's training.. quite a no. of unexpected 'surprises' pop out @ the end of session..din end in the way i intend it to be :(

so lemme 'finish' my lessons with the proper msg pass across now:)
